Project HCA: selecting the most suitable EAM software system

Holland Colours Apeldoorn (HCA), global supplier of plastics colorants and additives, uses her own locally developed maintenance management systems. As a result of growth and further development HCA decided to start the project of selecting the most suitable EAM system for her plants in the Netherlands, Hungary, USA and Indonesia.

HCA requested STEAM Consultancy to execute this selection process as an independent EAM advisor. Our pragmatical approach fits the hands-on culture of HCA.

As a first step the stated requirements are refined and highlighted together with HCA. In parallel a long list of potential EAM systems has been created as an input for the short list. The short list is initiated by matching the marked IT and functional requirements and selecting the utmost matching EAM software.

As a joint effort between STEAM Consultancy and HCA project team the demo cases including the most important and critical topics in the maintenance management process has been labelled. The stakeholders of HCA have further detailed the demo cases and formed qualification questions to score functionalities.

STEAM Consultancy has invited the short listed EAM software vendors to make a commercial software proposal including implementation plan and to prepare a demo based on the HCA demo cases. Together with HCA’s project team the software systems are demonstrated in timeslots that suits the different time zones. The separate vendor demos are scored on user-friendliness and usability by the participants.

Based on a more detailed examination, including customer reference meeting, of the two most suitable EAM systems HCA has selected the winning EAM system to start the implementation.

Root Cause Analysis

Root Cause Analysis

Due to an unexpected failure at an energyplant, maintenance had to be carried out as quickly as possible. Due to this maintenance, the production units had to be shut down causing a stop to the steam production with direct consequences for the steam customers/users. This interruption resulted in dissatisfied customers.
